Entry Fees for Kruger National Park: Everything You Need to Know

If you’re planning an adventure to Kruger National Park, one of South Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations, it’s important to be aware of the gate entry fees. This world-renowned park, home to the Big Five and countless other wildlife species, charges different rates based on your residency status. Mangovo Safaris is here to guide you through the fee structure, so you can plan your safari without any surprises.

  1. Daily Conservation Fees

The Kruger National Park requires all visitors to pay a daily conservation fee.

This fee helps to preserve the park’s ecosystems, maintain its infrastructure, and protect the wildlife. The rates vary based on whether you are a South African resident, a SADC (Southern African Development Community) national, or an international visitor.

The rates below are valid from 1st of November 2024  to 31st of October 2025.

For South African Citizens and Residents:

  • Adults: ZAR 128 per person per day
  • Children (under 12): ZAR 64 per child per day

For SADC Nationals:

  • Adults: ZAR 257 per person per day
  • Children: ZAR 128 per child per day

For International Visitors:

  • Adults: ZAR 535 per person per day
  • Children: ZAR 267 per child per day

Note: All visitors are required to provide proof of identification and or passports when entering the park. Do not forget to bring it along.

  1. Wild Card Membership

For frequent visitors or those planning to stay for extended periods, a Wild Card membership is a fantastic option. It provides unlimited access to the park (and other SANParks reserves) for a full year. This is especially beneficial if you’re planning to explore multiple parks during your time in South Africa.

  • Individual Membership (South African Citizens): ZAR 880 per year
  • Individual Membership (International Visitors): ZAR 4160 per year
  • Couple/Family Memberships: Prices range depending on group size and residency status
  1. Additional Fees and Considerations

While the daily conservation fees cover most of your park experience, there are a few additional costs you might want to keep in mind:

  • Guided Drives and Walks: If you’re joining Mangovo Safaris for one of our private or group-guided experiences, the cost of these activities is separate from your park entry fee. However, the expertise of our guides and the chances to see wildlife up close make this investment well worth it!
  • Accommodation: Staying overnight inside the park? Accommodation fees are separate from the entry fees and can vary widely based on the type of lodging you choose (from campsites to luxury lodges). Bookings often fill up quickly, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead.
  • Vehicle Fees: While there are no extra fees for private vehicles within the park, if you’re part of a tour group, transportation costs may be factored into the overall package price.
  1. How to Pay

Payment for the conservation fees can be made at any of the park’s entry gates or online in advance. If you’re visiting during peak seasons (holidays or weekends), booking and paying online can save you time at the gate and ensure entry, as the park has daily visitor limits to prevent overcrowding.

  1. Free Days and Special Discounts

Keep an eye out for free entry days, which SANParks offers annually to South African citizens. These days are a great opportunity to explore Kruger without the conservation fee, though you’ll still need to arrange accommodation and activities in advance.
